BOWMAN, Placer County — Placer County has published plans to fill a missing sidewalk section on Bowman Road between Apple Lane and Luther Road, north of Auburn, to improve safety for people walking along a corridor that currently relies in places on informal paths.
The Public Works Department estimates the project will cost approximately $4.07 million and projects construction beginning in spring 2030. The proposed work would create a dedicated accessible pedestrian pathway, improving visibility for children, families and other road users. It is intended to link existing sidewalk sections rather than build a new through highway.
As of the county’s published schedule, the sidewalk project is in the planning and design stage; it should not be described as under active construction in November 2026. Acquiring any necessary rights of way, completing environmental work and final engineering can still affect dates.
What residents should do
People who walk to local shops or transit stops can review the project’s map and raise specific crossing or access concerns with Placer County Public Works. In the meantime, they should follow existing traffic controls and not mistake the planned sidewalk for an open route.
